The fireplaces we have built include a broad range of style, design and size; fitting with the foundation we use in constructing the home and achieving the final “look” the customer wants.
Our fireplace interior appearance is usually stone – either natural stone or, most often, manufactured stone. If the customer wants natural stone, we build a specific, load-bearing foundation for the fireplace itself in order to support the weight of the stone.
Manufactured stone provides several benefits such as a wide selection of stone types, styles and colors as well as a significantly lighter weight fireplace structure. This weight savings is important when building on pier and beam foundations to avoid the additional expense of a separate concrete footing just for the fireplace. We use pier and beam foundations on building sites with steep slopes and/or a lot of rock – the type of sites we run into most often in the Hill Country and the type that would be prohibitively expensive to build concrete slab foundations. We typically use Tejas Textured Stone (by Veneerstone at veneerstone.biz). Their plant is in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, which allows prompt service and delivery.
